Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The Prague Journal of English Studies (PJES) is an annual peer-reviewed journal. Below are listed the responsibilities of editors, authors, and peer reviewers.

Responsibilities – Editors

  • Fairness.
    The Editors of the Prague Journal of English Studies (PJES) will evaluate sbmitted manuscripts without regard to any author’s race, gender, age, sexual orientation, nationality/citizenship, religious beliefs, and/or political philosophy.
  • Confidentiality.
    The Editors of the PJES will not divulge information about considerd manuscripts to anyone but other editors, the author(s) and the peer reviewers.

Responsibilities – Authors

  • Originality.
    Manuscripts must be original (not published elsewhere) and in English. Plagiarism, in any form, is unacceptable and must be avoided. All contributing authors must be credited.
  • Proofreading.
    Manuscripts must be proofread thoroughly before submission.
  • Citation Style.
    PJES uses the MLA (Modern Language Association) citation style, which must be followed. A short (onepage) PJES style sheet should be read before submission.
  • Conflict of Interest.
    Authors must divulge any conflict of interest regarding the creation/potential publication of their manuscripts.

Responsibilities – Peer Reviewers

  • System.
    The PJES uses a double-blind peer-review process. Authors will receive the results of the review process within two months of the submission deadline.
  • Confidentiality.
    Peer Reviewers will not divulge information about received/considerd manuscripts to anyone but the editors of the PJES, the author(s) and other peer reviewers.
  • Objectivity/Conflict of Interest.
    Peer Reviewers will review the submitted manuscripts objectively. Any conflict of interest concerning the author, his/her institution, his/her manuscript, must be disclosed.

This, the Prague Journal of English Studies – Ethics and Malpractice Statement, follows the guidelines and standards set by COPE (the Committee on Publication Ethics).
