Received her doctoral degree from the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, Brno. Teaches Modern Linguistics (Introduction to Language, Lexicology, Semantics, Sociolinguistics). Her research interests include Sociolinguistics, Discourse Analysis, Pragmatics – specifically the issues of Language and Identity, Style and Language Atittudes. Recently published work includes journal and conference proceedings articles and a monograph On the Nature of Language Humour, Analysis of Selected Works of Woody Allen (2011).
