Programme Coordinator: Mgr. Kristýna Červinková Poesová, Ph.D.
This 5-year programme is designed for students in the primary school programme (generalists) who want to expand their qualification in teaching English to primary school pupils starting from the third form.
Entry requirements: Only students already enrolled in the primary school programme at the Department of Primary Pedagogy can apply. They have to prove their level in English in a written entrance exam.
Content: The programme consists of two modules divided into 10 terms. The first module courses give students insights into phonetics and English grammar and there are also courses on practical language development and British and American Studies. During the second module the study of literature focuses on British andAmerican authors, including prominent writers of children’s literature.
The 6-term course on the methodology of English stresses the main questions relevant to the primary school age group. The students address and study the major aspects of methodology which will provide them with a theoretical background to teaching. Simultaneously students will be encouraged to develop their knowledge and skills, and experiment with them during their own presentations in seminars.
In addition to this they have teaching practice in schools.
